Run like the (Terreton) wind, Bella! We are cheering you across the finish line!
A "State Send-off" will take place at 3:40pm on Thursday, Oct. 31st in the hallway of the high school. Parents are welcome to come if they would like, but don't be late because it's pretty short and sweet!

Our Panther Football team ended their regular season with a 1-3 conference record and a 4-4 overall record. We will now play in the first round of the State Play-offs on Friday, Nov. 1st at 7:00pm at North Fremont High School. Several factors contribute to West Jefferson qualifying to continue towards a state championship . We asked Coach Hall to explain how the State Play-off Teams are determined.
"Idaho High School Football Teams qualify for state competition according to a few criteria. The first-place team of conference champions from the 1st/2nd, 3rd, 4/5th, and 6th districts automatically qualify for tournament play and are granted a first-round bye. (The four teams with a first-round bye are Firth, Declo, Nampa Christian, & Grangeville.)
The 1st and 2nd as well as the 4th and 5th districts have combined into two larger conferences. Additionally, all teams are ranked in Max Preps based on win/loss record, strength of schedule, and head-to-head competition.
After the four conference champions have been determined, the next eight highest-ranked teams, according to Max Preps, qualify to enter the tournament. These eight teams are placed in a bracket by a committee and they play the first round. The winners of these four games will play the four conference champions who had a first-round bye. The losers of these four games will end their season."
North Fremont has really nice new bleachers for the visiting team! Let's fill them up with Panther Fans!!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
West Jefferson School District Statement Regarding Employee Arrest
West Jefferson, 17 October 2024 – The West Jefferson School District is aware of the recent arrest of a district employee on charges of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 16. This is an extremely serious matter, and the safety and well-being of our students remains our top priority.
The district is fully cooperating with law enforcement as they continue their investigation. The employee in question has been dismissed from their position with the district. We are committed to ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all students and will continue to work closely with authorities to ensure this matter is handled swiftly and thoroughly.
Due to the ongoing investigation, the district will not be providing additional details at this time. We encourage anyone with relevant information to contact local law enforcement.
Our thoughts are with the victim and their family during this difficult time, and we remain dedicated to the safety and trust of our school community.

West Jefferson High School senior, Boone Burtenshaw, raised and donated a pig to be sold at the Mud Lake Fair stock sale. He wanted the proceeds to go to extra-curricular activities at West Jefferson. The pig was sold three times. Broulims, T. Simmons Farms, and Lee Burtenshaw were the buyers. The check for approximately $3900 was written by the fair board and they asked Chandra Day to deliver it to the school this week.
Great job Boone and thank you to our area businesses who are continually supporting our kids!

Our high school wrestling team is doing a fundraiser selling Scotty's (Glenwood) Jerky. Orders can be made through any of the high school wrestlers or coaches.
